Climate

Noosa's average annual temperature is 25 degrees Celcius (77 degrees Fahrenheit), making it an ideal climate for year-round swimming, outdoor activities and alfresco dining. The maximum daily air temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) even in winter.

Temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, rivers and lakes in the Noosa region range from a mild 19 degree Celsius (66 degrees Fahrenheit) in winter to 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer.

Passports and Visas

All international visitors require a valid passport. All travellers to Australia, other than Australian and New Zealand citizens, are required to obtain a visa to travel to Australia.

Time Zone

Australian Eastern Standard Time GMT plus 10 hours. Daylight saving is not observed in Queensland.

Currency

The currency throughout Australia is the Australian dollar. Banks offer Bureau de Change facilities.

Tipping and Gratuities

Not required or expected in Australia. Gratuities are welcome after a particularly enjoyable meal or for exemplary service.

Voltage

50cyc AC240v. All 110v appliances require transformers. Most hotels will have ACI 110 sockets.

Clothing

In keeping with the relaxed lifestyle, smart casual clothing is standard. A jacket or jumper may be required during winter, especially in the evenings.

Disabled services

Many public areas, shopping centres, hotels, apartments, attractions and restaurants provide disabled services and facilities.

Medical services

Public hospitals are located at Caloundra and Nambour. Private hospitals are located at Caloundra, Buderim, Noosa and Nambour. 24-hour medical centres are located throughout the Sunshine Coast and many hotels and resorts have doctors on call. Dialling 000 will reach emergency services.

Centrally Located

Wolngarin is either an easy walk or a short drive to all that Noosa has to offer. Noosa has an excellent bus service, and during certain holiday periods the Council subsidise this service and the buses are free. There are several companies that provide affordable bike hire rates for guests to enjoy all the excellent bike tracks and trails. Many guests also choose to use the Noosa Ferry and purchase hop on - hop off tickets for the duration of their stay.

Conservation and Sustainable Development

Noosa's ongoing commitment to managing its development while protecting the natural environment has been recognised by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). Noosa was declared a Biosphere Reserve in September 2007. Biosphere reserves are sites recognized under UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme which innovate and demonstrate approaches to conservation and sustainable development.
